Fully Booked Book Grab
5 slots are up for grabs!
On the 24th of July (Sat, 4pm), get ready for Fully Booked Anniversary Book Grab where 5 lucky participants will get the chance to grab as many books as they can! Happening is set at the store's multi-level branch in Bonifacio High Street, The Fort.
Just click on the link I provided for the event's mechanics. Basically, you just have to submit a video, essay/poem, or artwork that answers this question: "What are the three things I like about Fully Booked?" If picked, then you'll all set. Just remember to prepare your good old sneakers plus do some power exercises every morning to get your self up and running!

Photos of P. Noy's girlfriend and the Malacanang cake
Photos from ABS-CBN's website and Rajo Laurel's twitter account.
The Cake. This is the cake from Pastry Bin's award winning cake designer, Penk Ching. Banana walnut as the flavor, the Malacanang Palace design was thought of by Ching as the one that best suited today's occasion. It would be presented in today's vin d’honneur with foreign dignitaries.

Charice sings National Anthem. For some reason, she reminds me of Snow White. Do not get me wrong, her gown was nice. I read somewhere it was Kris Aquino who gave it.
All in the Family. Smiles!
Sworn In. Noynoy Aquino taking his oath before Associate Justice Conchita Carpio-Morales. Baby James seems to have other things in mind as her mom signals him to tone down. Jesuit priest Fr. Arevalo carries the bible as First Sister Pinky Aquino-Abellada looks on.
As an aside, I noticed Pinky took the same position during today's oath as when her mother's inauguration
Take a look at this.
Galing diba. :)
I did not vote for Noynoy but I wish him good luck. Make your country proud! God bless you.
Aquino Cabinet Secretaries named. P. Noy to sit temporarily as DILG sec.
Some cabinet members are already named for the Aquino Administration. Note that Dinky Soliman (Department of Social Welfare and Development) is making a comeback after being a member of the Arroyo cabinet and eventually turning her back against GMA in 2005. Remember the "famous" Hyatt 10 resignation composed of 8 Cabinet secretaries and 2 senior revenue officials? Well, she was one of them. She was one of those who saw GMA's determination to survive as President and called on her to resign.
Another worth mentioning is Sec. Alberto Romulo, Department of Foreign Affair's Sec since August of 2004 who was recently reappointed to the post. He shall remain. Now, I'm not sure if this is good. But I'd like to believe Noynoy made a careful thought about the move. :) The only consolation I have is our ePassport, a high tech passport with built-in microchip where user data is stored, that debuted during his time --but even that itself was mired by fund anomalies.
Oh well.
Apparently, Noy admin is having a hard time on who to pick for Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG). It is a strategic post if one wants to win the next election, I believe. Binay is out , of course. Noy sits, and the nation awaits.
As the saying goes, "Save the best for Last".
Here's a clip from GMA 7.

The 31st Manila International Book Fair 2010
Hurrah for book lovers! In 2 months' time, the event of the year will soon arrive!
The Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) will be held on September 15(Wed.)-19(Sun.) 2010 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. Time to dig through the bargain piles at the corners! Don't you just feel heavenly when you find great books on interesting topics at such affordable prices? Freebies aside, you'd wish there'd be more time to be lost in the array of pages you find yourself in. Sometimes, you'd chance upon those rare books you won't necessarily find elsewhere. There are just some moments that make this book-hunting adventure worth the wait.
The publishing industry managed to put up this yearly fair since 1979. It probably took a significant amount of effort from the organizers to bring a wide selection of reading materials accessible to the public for a 5-day-long event. Exhibitors prepare for this by reserving their spaces a year ahead. I'd say if reading were a way of connecting people and transforming lives, then having this industry thrive gives me hope for our country's future.
